Remember the second part of my plan? The idea of working as a locum PA during the off season? It didn’t take long before I had this all lined up as well!
I reached out to a recruiting company and they did all the work! I explained my situation, which is not something they see often. Usually, they are working with providers who are ready to find work now and not six months down the road. Nonetheless, my recruiter set out to see what she could find.
We decided to keep our search within my home state of Wisconsin. Since I’d be gone all summer I wanted to spend the off season a little closer to home.
The first place my recruiter reached out to was a hit! She found me an urgent care an hour from my hometown. I had a brief chat with the company to learn more about their clinic. Before I knew it I had a job for the entire off season!
Plus, I’m going to stay on call with my former employer so I’ll get to see all my favorite coworkers! I’m pretty excited about that!
I cannot express how thankful I am that everything has worked out so well! I found a tour guide position that allows me the opportunity to continue practicing medicine. I landed what sounds like an excellent locums position. I get to pick up shifts and visit all my former coworkers. My combination plan is complete and I could not be happier!
With everything in place I can hit the road stress-free!
